"I was in a band back in college called “The Librarians” and we won 1st place at UC Berkeley’s Battle of the Bands. In my spare time, I like cooking and playing video and board games."

"I love teaching one hour library instruction sessions. The dividends pay off all semester long and beyond. Students consistently report back that their research assignment was easier, less stressful, and their course grade was higher due to the information picked up in an effective session! "

"I used to be terrified of teaching, and it’s librarianship that enabled me to fall in love with teaching. LION is a way for me to share this passion with you and give back to the profession."

The LILi Open Information Literacy Instruction Network (LION) is a website where Information Science (IS) professionals in California who teach information literacy can connect with IS graduate students, interns, recent graduates, and paraprofessionals seeking to advance in the field, or librarians who are looking to make a career change can ask to observe, for example:
In an academic library, a one-shot library instruction class or one session of a term-long IL course
In a public library, a storytime, book club or other activities as available.
In a K-12 school library, a storytime, book club, or an instruction session
Part-time librarians, recent graduates & student interns at libraries of all types need professional experience and coaching when it comes to teaching information literacy in different settings. Often, they are tasked with working at the reference desk or in virtual reference during their hours working in a library.
In addition, iSchool graduate students, especially those who are not able to work in a library, or those who work in a library but whose current duties do not allow for them to participate in instruction sessions or storytimes, may have experience giving classroom presentations but want experience more in line with what librarians do on the job.
