Welcome (back) to all new and returning board members of LILi!
I want to extend a very heartfelt thank you to last year’s board members for a terrific year of collaboration, true collegiality, and congeniality. A special thanks to Lisa Burgert for her exceptional leadership, hard work, and organizational skills, to Annie Knight for her diligent record-keeping and willingness to help, to Angela Boyd for her steady and thoughtful advice, and her dedication as webmaster for the newly-launched LILi libguide. Of course, none of this would be possible without LILi Founder, and Board Emerita, Esther Grassian, who has been the guiding voice and go-to person for all things LILi.
As former Vice-Chair, I enjoyed working with everyone from organizing the business meetings to planning the annual conference and contributing to the website. I look forward to working with everyone again this year. We welcome all levels of involvement for new and returning members as we embark on another productive and collaborative year.
LILi will be having its first quarterly business meeting on Friday, October 28, from 11 am -1 pm at Glendale Community College. Details are forthcoming. My hope is that these informal gatherings will allow librarians from all contexts to discuss, brainstorm, and strategize on what I have called the "gospel of information literacy" by sharing and collaborating. Remember, LILi is a no-dues and no-fees organization.
Respectfully,

This year, I look forward to networking, building relationships, and learning from all of you. 2014/15 Welcome from LILi Chair, Angela Boyd
Welcome to a new year with Lifelong Information Literacy! School has begun, the weather is still a little nuts, and LILi is now back in business again!
It’s a great time to be a member of LILi. We hosted an amazing program, “Transition: High School to College”, last year in August at the beautiful JSerra Catholic High School in the equally beautiful town of San Juan Capistrano. The energy of the presenters and attendees was unparalleled to anything I’d experienced before locally. It’s not that surprising really, considering we’re part of a profession that we’re all so passionate about. We have some equally exciting things planned for this upcoming year, so I hope you’ll join us!
I want to thank all of the members of the LILi board who made last year such a dynamic year. There was Angela Murrell, who chaired LILi, and kept us on track. Lisa Burgert was not only the secretary but also wrote a paper highlighting LILi and presented it at an IFLA conference. Esther Grassian, Cynthia Orozco, Jeane Swedo, Carol Womack, Elisa Acosta and Michael Oppenheim all worked especially hard behind the scenes.
I want to welcome the new Vice-Chair/Chair Elect, Lisa Burgert, from University of San Diego. Elisa Acosta, of Loyola Marymount University, will be our new Secretary. Both have a lot of energy and enthusiasm and I think you’ll find that this will be the best year yet because of them! LILi prides itself on being active and providing value to you.
Looking ahead, we have our November meeting in the works, new members to network with, and endless possible projects to work on. I look forward to meeting with each one of you and working on a number of projects or committees throughout the year. Please take a look around our website and learn more about us and our accomplishments over the years.
