Asynchronous Learning and Scalar: A Beginner’s Experience with Creating Learning Modules
Charmaine Henriques (She/Hers)
International Studies Librarian at Herman B Wells Library, Indiana University

The Covid-19 pandemic shined a light on digital education. Librarians used commonly known software and applications like Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Docs, and Canvas for online instruction. While it was logical to utilizes these resources, there are other lesser-known user friendly options that could help librarians (especially those who are newer to asynchronous learning) with creating learning objects. One such possibility would be Scalar, a multimedia digital publishing platform. This presentation will give an overview of how a librarian with limited online education experience used Scalar to produce a leaning module for an upper-level undergraduate seminar.
